WORLD HEPATITIS DAY

Worldwide 400 million people are living with hepatitis B or C. Every year 1.4 million people die from viral hepatitis and yet all of these deaths could be prevented. With better awareness and understanding of how we can prevent hepatitis we can eliminate this disease and save 4,000 lives a day.

DIAGNOSIS

In New Zealander up to fifty thousand people may be living with hepatitis C (HCV), which has often been referred to as the  silent epidemic. 

Each year there are approximately 1000 new infections of hepatitis C. 

TREATMENT

The word Hepatitis means inflammation of the liver. A virus attacks the liver over a long period of time. The virus infects the liver cells causing them to become swollen and damaged.
